Being creative isn’t always easy. Tapping into that beautiful side of yourself can be more difficult than it sounds. If you are a writer, an artist, or any other profession that requires you to be creative, it can be challenging to be “on” every single day. We all have our down days no matter what it is that we do for a living. But there are ways to perk ourselves up and get us back on the creative track. Let’s brainstorm some ideas that will help you to become more creative and beat the case of the blahs.
Do you think that every creative person is creative all the time? That would be nearly impossible. There are some ways that you can trigger some creative flow. One excellent idea is to keep a notebook of prompts to help get those juices flowing. If you are a writer, you may want to keep a list of potential writing prompts that you can use when you have hit a writer’s block. You just need to keep writing and something creative is bound to come out at some point. This is true for any profession.
If you work in an office environment it can be quite a struggle to stay creative. If you have been sitting in the same seat for a long period of time it is quite possible to become bored and completely uncreative. Take a break. If the weather is nice, go out and take a walk around the building. Stretching your legs and breathing in the fresh air can do wonders for your creative flow. Observe nature and people, this will help you to gain a positive attitude and be ready to get back to work. No matter what you do for a living you are always going to need a break, that is simply a given.
If you need to, you can even use mind mapping software that will help you map out new ideas and creative thoughts. No matter what you are thinking, put it into the software. You never know when you will need that unique thought later. If you don’t have access to mapping software then you can do it the old-fashioned way right on paper. The visual image of all of your thoughts coming together may help you to come up with more creative ideas and keep the juices flowing.
Nobody is perfect, we can’t all be “on” all the time. However, there are many fun ways that we can get our minds moving again. Take a breather if you need to, but don’t give up on the goals that you have set. Continue to think and continue to brainstorm, it will all come together eventually.
