Going to college can be a stressful event in someone’s life. Not only are you worried about finances, moving, and everything else that comes with college, you are concerned about how you are going to make new friends in a brand new environment. You may be leaving a lot of other friends behind and this can be heartbreaking. But it is not as difficult as you would think to begin making new friends. You have friends for a reason, right? So you should be able to do it again with little stress and a lot of fun.
“The most valuable gift you can receive is an honest friend.”
There are many steps you can take to meet new people in college and begin creating lifelong friends. The easiest way is simply to strike up a conversation with someone who is already in class with you. I mean, you already have something in common, you’re both enrolled in the same class. When you stop off for that morning coffee you chat up the barista or maybe someone in line that piques your interest. All it takes is a few words to get the ball rolling and then maybe you won’t be out getting your morning coffee all by yourself!
You can also join clubs and groups to see if you can meet some people with similar interests as you. If you are on the school paper it probably wouldn’t be a bad idea to make friends with a journalism major or someone on the paper with you. Common ground is the first building block in creating a beautiful relationship. You will be spending the next four years with these people. You might as well make the best of it.
One of the keys to living life to the fullest is to make friends that you can share all of your life experiences with. These are individuals that you can set goals with, go on vacation with, or simply have a coffee and a chat with. The honest to goodness key to happiness is understanding how important all of those things are and finding people who support all of your dreams and aspirations.
Many of the friends that you make in college will last a lifetime. So it is important to hang onto those wonderful individuals for dear life. Your college experience will be a lot more fun when you have people to talk to and share stories with. These types of bonds simply cannot be broken. One of the many lessons in how to keep on living life to the fullest lies with your ability to hang on to these amazing friends. It will keep you happy and help you to live a long and happy life.
